In this year 2023, the challenge we are launching focuses on practical work related to the proposal of creative ideas for digital transformation in the area of occupational health and safety that help workers to become aware of the space that each person occupies in the environment in which they carry out their work activity (real world awareness). This, within the programs taught in the Universities of the Community of Madrid, and which have been developed and qualified during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years.
It is important to be aware of the space that each of us occupies in the environment in which we work (real world awareness).
The human being is inserted in a real environment that he perceives as what surrounds him, what he hears, what he feels, with what and with whom he communicates. Being aware of this environment, of its state at all times and of the changing dynamics that characterize it and how it can affect him at all times, is what is understood by “real world awareness”.
The work environment does not escape the risks to which people are always exposed, but it is important that these risks are minimized and that people are sufficiently aware that risks exist, that they are vulnerable to them, and that if the necessary measures are not taken, they may suffer accidents at work.
Prevention must start with the individual and the way he or she relates to the world. With today’s technologies, it seems that people are more “disconnected” from their environment and more “clinging” to virtual environments that are potential distractions. It is possible to reduce this if organizations value their workers and promote the development of technologies to mitigate the tendency to “disconnect” from the environment.
Students of the Universities of the Community of Madrid, of legal age, who have presented their practical work, during the academic years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 within a program of studies taught in the Universities of the Community of Madrid, being the nationality of the winners Spanish or foreign.
