Antonio de Amescua Seco

Antonio de Amescua Seco is Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Founder of the Software Engineering Laboratory of the Department of Computer Science and his main current line of research is the Digital Transformation through the Innovation of Digital Processes and Products.
Committed to excellence in Public Higher Education, he participated as Deputy Director of the Escuela Politécnica Superior in the creation of the Leganés Campus of the UC3M.
His research work in the standardization of software engineering, management and quality has been applied both in advanced IT consulting and technology companies: Telefónica, IECISA, Accenture, ATOS, EY, Everis, etc., and in public organizations: MAP, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economy, Employment and Competitiveness of the Community of Madrid.
Convinced of the need to promote technological innovation, he created two technology startups, one together with UC3M Honorary Doctor Prof. Angel Jordan, founding director of the Software Engineering Institute and provost of Carnegie Mellon University.
Aligned with the digitalization strategy of UC3M, he has been designing online courses, both MOOCs and SPOCs, for 5 years, and experimenting with their results in the learning process.
He has more than 30 years of experience in design, deployment and delivery of master and undergraduate courses in Computer Science. He is an active member of the ECQA (European Certification and Qualification Association). He has supervised 14 doctoral theses and more than one hundred master’s and bachelor’s degree projects.
